What exactly is a Gemméterna diamond?
A Gemméterna diamond is a genuine, laboratory-grown diamond forged from the carbon isolated from a biological sample (such as hair). Chemically, physically, and optically, it is identical to a natural diamond mined from the Earth. The only difference is its origin: it is grown from your personal history rather than geological chance.
Is this a "memorial diamond"?
While our process can be used for memorial purposes, Gemméterna is a house of Legacy Jewelry. We focus on celebrating the living—capturing the "raw vitality" of a couple, a new parent, or an individual at a milestone. It is a celebration of life and connection, intended to be worn and passed down through generations.
Is it a real diamond?
Yes. Every Gemméterna stone is a 100% authentic diamond, composed of a pure crystalline carbon lattice. It will pass any diamond tester and is graded by the same world-renowned gemological institutes (GIA or IGI) that grade the world’s finest mined diamonds.
The Custom Synthesis Process
How much hair is required to create a diamond?
We require approximately a small lock of hair (about a tablespoon) to ensure we can isolate enough carbon for the synthesis process. The more hair is provided, the more personal carbon will be included in the final diamond.
Can I combine carbon from two different people?
Yes. This is one of our most requested services for weddings and anniversaries. We can meld the carbon from two individuals into a single "Union Diamond," symbolizing the forge of two lives into one eternal entity.
How long does the metamorphosis take?
The creation of a Gemméterna diamond typically takes between 6 to 9 months. This timeline accounts for the delicate carbon purification process, the weeks-long HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature) growth cycle, and the master cutting and certification. True legacy cannot be rushed.

How are the diamonds graded?
You will receive an official certificate detailing the 4Cs (Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat) and verifying its origin as a laboratory-grown diamond synthesized from personal carbon.
What colors and cuts are available?
Because the carbon is unique to the individual, subtle variations can occur. However, our HPHT process primarily yields colorless (white) diamonds of exceptional quality. We offer a curated selection of master cuts, including Round, Princess, and Cushion, as well as bespoke artistic cuts upon request. Some colors are also available upon request.

Trust is the cornerstone of our house. We maintain a strict Chain of Custody protocol. Each sample is assigned a unique identification code and tracked through every micro-step of the purification and synthesis process.
